Jason was out of his Gatorade and was thirsty, so he stopped at a stand to get a
can of soda. He picked it up and opened it and began to drink. He placed the fifty cents
on the counter and began to walk away. "Hey! Hey, come back here! Jason heard
someone yelling. He turned around to see a man running at him. "That's a dollar fifty! I
need one more dollar. The man screamed while pointing at the fifty cents in his hand.
"Sorry, um I didn't know" Jason said while turning red, and putting the dollar in
his hands. Everyone started laughing at him. He told them all to shut up, and they
continued walking. Not much farther up the boardwalk, they all decided to sit down and
people watch. This also gave them all a chance to calm down and relax. Sitting there,
they saw people pulling up their flies, adjusting bras, groping each other, and other
embarrassing things. They sat there and watched the guys going past. Jason had seen a
few who looked like they were gay, but he wasn't sure. Not to mention he didn't say
anything to them because he was insecure about himself. He would make comments on
the passing girls to try and not seem so obvious. After every comment he would hear

They got up from their seats and began to walk around again. Tameera and Jason
went to the pier with the rides on them. They rode the Crazy Mouse and the Pirate Ship.
After that their money was short for the rides. They were really tempted to spend more
money, but decided not to. When they got back to the group, they saw Grammy was
walking away. They asked Mary what she was doing, and she said she was going to
gamble. Mary looked at her watch then and screwed up her face. "Mom! You can't
gamble! We have to go to the birthday lunch now!"
"Oh, okay, but I still have to gamble, Mary. I am feeling a lucky streak. She said,
winking at Jason. He just smiled and began to walk on with his new group of friends.
They all had to get back to the hotel in five minutes, which was all the way at the other
end of the boardwalk. They rented bikes and sped most of the way to the hotel. You aren't
supposed to take the bikes off of the boardwalk, but they did anyway. They reached the
hotel and met up with a few of the other groups and went up the elevator. They arrived at
the dinning room floor and proceeded towards the dinning hall. Upon arrival each kid got
a birthday hat put on his or her head. Amanda and her mother's eyes were red, and
Amanda was helping her mother with the hats, smile still on her face. Jason could only
imagine what had made both of them cry.
The food and cake was very good, but the weather was getting dull. The sky was
gray, the water murky, and coldness was coming over them. Several more hours of
boardwalk time took up most of the evening. The groups were sitting on the steps of the
Taj Mahal waiting for Amanda's parents to come and get them. Tameera and Jason sat on
a secluded step and talked about serious topics. Tameera had asked him about the Jason
and Randy rumor. Jason told her it was true. "Wow, well that's cool. Tameera said.
"Yeah, but I am definitely trying to keep it under wraps..." Jason stated clearly.
Tameera nodded her head in understanding. "...like don't even tell Colin. Colin was
Tameera's boyfriend at the time, and was one of the cool kids, so Jason didn't want him to
hate him as well.
"Okay, I won't say anything to anyone, not even my boyfriend. Tameera stated
smile spreading across her face. Jason for some reason did not even question this, and
instead smiled, and thought for once in his life, there was somebody there he could
actually trust.
